What did you learn about yourself from this process?

This is a question for another hour…

  • Comfort is key, if the process doesn’t feel good, something is wrong. There’s a need that’s not being met and it’s okay to take time to understand what that is. The slowness of the Indigenous paradigm really drilled that in for me. It may not always be possible in the moment to address triggers or trauma, but it will just stick around until you do finally address it.

  • Relationships are everything. Homelessness is in part an issue of isolation. When people lose their support network or they lose crucial connections in their web of support, it can be devastating. I know that I’ve been saved from homelessness on a number of occasions thanks to the support of my family, And not everyone has that or not all the time. We can’t neglect the important need for connection and care. We’re an interdependent species and we rely on each other for our survival. The stronger we can make our connections the better. So

  • But seriously, I’ve learned so much about myself through this process.

  • I love collaborating with others who share my vision for healthy, joyful, and creative

  • It’s helpful for me to have flexible accountability, people who know me

  • I have ADHD, I never would have expected it given my good grades growing up. Then again, I have a maladaptive coping mechanism of ignoring my needs to please others.
